Food For Everyone At Black Walnut Cafe

Black Walnut Cafe makes the drive to Frisco totally worth it. They have a huge selection of comfort food, healthy options, and homemade gelato! Oh, and a full bar!  Their menu really does have something for everyone.

The Space

When you walk in, you pick up a menu and head to the back of the restaurant to place your order. Then, you can grab a drink at the bar or head straight to a table and wait for your food. Bonus: They have wifi so you can get some work done/stalk people on Facebook while you’re waiting for your noms.

The Drinks

While their drinks are a bit sweeter than I prefer, their happy hour deals are too good to pass up. The best part? They have both an early bird happy hour, and an afternoon one!

They were both pretty tasty, but a bit too sweet for my taste.

The Food

I didn’t eat a single thing there that I didn’t like, but the Asian Chicken Nachos were my favorite! They make them with fried wontons so they’re perfectly crispy and overall delicious.

Turkey Club Benedict

Blackened Salmon Risotto

Their risotto is made out of cauliflower so this dish is perfect if you’re watching your waistline.

The Litigator

The chicken salad was pretty delicious!

Bank No. 19

That pesto alfredo sauce was life y’all!

Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad

I don’ think you can go wrong with any of those things in one dish. Oh, and that bread that comes with these dishes? SO GOOD!

The Dessert

Black Walnut Cafe has lots of options when it comes to desserts. You can pick from their extensive gelato bar, or their cake display. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with either! After eating all that food, I settled for the gelato and enjoyed every bite!

The Verdict

Do it. While the drive is a little far if you’re in Dallas proper, the food is well worth it if you want some comfort food. I love that they have healthy options that are a bit out of the box from most places. While I was a bit thrown off by the set up of the store, I do like how quick the service is. The one thing I would avoid are their mixed drinks. Just stick with a glass of wine, beer, or a classic cocktail (rum and coke, tequila sunrise – you can’t go wrong with those).

Which of these dishes tickle your fancy? Let me know in the comments below!
