Thanks to developments like Cityline DFW in Richardson, the suburbs are poppin’ more now than ever before. I went on a brunch tour recently and tried out three of their restaruants – Good Union Urban BBQ, Fernando’s Mexican Cuisine, and Tricky Fish. At each stop we sampled a couple of drinks and 3 entrees. Here’s what our palettes were graced with:
The Drinks – We sipped on the Union Bloody Mary and the House-Made Sangria. As much as I love wine, I’m not really a huge sangria person. Don’t get me wrong, I rarely turn down a free drink, but I was all about the bloody mary on this stop!
To Eat – Everytime I go to Good Union, I’m pleased with how diverse their menu is. For brunch, you can order tacos, sandwiches, and quesadillas. Maybe it’s a Texas thing, but from where I’m from, barbecue joints just don’t have those options. And if they do, they don’t do it well. Honestly, my mouth is watering just typing out the food we had at Good Union Urban BBQ. We tried the Prime B Breakfast Tacos, Brisket Breakfast Quesadillas, and the Ham Breakfast Brioche Sandwich. They were all bomb, but the one that stood out to me was definitely that ham sandwich. I couldn’t get enough of that buttery bread and perfectly seasoned ham!
The Drinks – I’m not typically a fan of frozen drinks (because they take too long to chug) but that is what Fernando’s was serving up so I rolled with the punches. They brought us a Frozen Margarita and a Frozen Blueberry Mojito. As someone who loves tequila and loves mojitos, this made me happy. If I have to drink frozen drinks, I would choose these. The margarita was a margarita..not too much more to say there. That blueberry mojito, on the other hand, was something to write home about! So refreshing and sweet!! If I had to choose between the two, I wouldn’t. I’d just take both. 🙂
To Eat – We grubbed on some of Fernando’s house favorites, the Breakfast Taco, Mexican Tortilla Sandwich, and Fernando’s Quessadilla. This was a while ago, so I don’t remember everything, but I do remember loving that Mexican Tortilla Sandwich. Historically, I side with whichever dish includes the most carbs. This definitely fit the bill.
To Drink – I love a good mimosa bar, especially when they let you pour your own champagne. Why, you ask? Because I skip the juice and pour myself a glass of champagne. *pro tip* lmfao Not only is that the tastiest option, in my opinion, but its also the cutest because you can see the fruit you dress it with! That being said, I did love the set up Tricky Fish does for its Mimosa Bar! Shoutout to them for having fresh herbs you can toss in your champs!
To Eat – I’m not gonna lie, by the time I got to Tricky Fish I was full AF and could barely fathom stuffing anymore grub into my food hole. However, I persevered when they brought out these goodies. We had a NOLA Benedict, Fried Shrimp & Oyster Grits, and Praline Pancakes. It was all good, but the thing that took me over the limit was their okra. It’s hard to find someone that cooks okra perfectly, especially if it isn’t fried. But my friends, that okra was off the chain. So much so that I’ve been back to Tricky Fish since this visit just to eat some more.
I know you came on here looking for some food porn, so I figured I’d show you a couple other snacks I ran across….
Huge thanks to Cityline DFW for inviting me to your foodie tour. I love going out there for good eats, but they also have lots of other fun activities going on throughout the year. Check them out on Instagram to see when they’re hosting yoga in the plaza. Or, if you can’t wait, check out Reef Point Yoga. It’s one of my favorites in DFW.
A few months ago, Google filmed me around town eating some of the most delicious BBQ and Korean friend chicken that Dallas has to offer. They randomly emailed me one day asking if they could record me eating bbq. Of course my first question was, “How much y’all paying?” And of course their response was, “NADA.” But I still agreed because – hellooooo, its GOOGLE! I couldn’t believe they asked little ‘ol me! When they told me the places we’d be visiting, I told them I hadn’t been to any of them! However, I’m not one to turn down a free meal so I turned on my camera face, and headed out to eat! Check out this video to see where all we went.
