Dallas Comp Camp: The Hotel Edition

Last month, I did something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. I get questions about blogging all the time, and one of the most frequent ones is “How do you get to travel for free?” I’m always happy to answer questions anyone has about blogging. It’s fun teaching people what I know. So when my blogger bestie, Shatia from Busy Being Shasha, and I came up with the idea to teach blogger classes, I got really excited. Because she’s a travel blogger, and I have been getting more and more sponsored trips, we decided to create Comp Camp!

Our first Comp Camp was the Hotel Edition where we taught bloggers how to pitch brands and kill their sponsored travel posts! We hosted the workshop at RJ’s Mexican Grill, who provided lots of yummy sips and bites for everyone. They have a beautiful, private room with tons of natural light and a projector. Because we love pretty things, we even had a flower wall for everyone to take pictures in front of!

We started the event with a quick reception so everyone could get comfortable. We did a quick icebreaker to find out everyone’s name and blog. Plus we wanted to know everyone’s travel history, and where they’re going next. Then, Shasha and I dove right in and gave everyone our tips and tricks. We had a Q&A afterwards where the bloggers were free to ask us questions about all things blogger-related. The fun didn’t stop there! We created a private Facebook group for everyone who attends our workshops. That way if anyone ever has questions or needs resources, they have a one stop shop to keep learning after the event!

Y’all know I’m all about the swag bags! For this event, we partnered with some amazing sponsors to put together a heavy one. We had giveaways (I’m talking hotel stays y’all), and plenty of treats for everyone to take home. Plus, Outdoor Voices outfitted us and gave everyone $20 notes to use in store!
