Y’all, it seems like the whole country is dealing with crazy weather right now – but that’s not going to stop me from doing the things I love. This summer I’ve been challenging myself to find new ways to hang out with my friends other than the usual dinner and a movie. I also wanted to do something that was relatively inexpensive for everyone so that we could save our coins for trips and shopping runs. What I came up with was to do like we used to do as kids and go play outside! We’ve been playing tennis, kicking soccer balls, and going on long walks down the trails. You may think I’m crazy for doing these things when it’s super hot outside, but bare with me. There are ways to survive these outdoor activities in the scorching heat!
Wear sunscreen
Honestly, it doesn’t matter when or where you go outside, you should be protecting yourself with sunscreen. (Remember when I wrote that blog post asking if black people can get skin cancer? Spoiler alert: WE CAN!)
Bring lots of snacks and water
This summer is hotter than ever and we don’t want you passing out while having fun. Make sure you bring lots of water so you can stay hydrated! Oh, and snacks. You can’t play outdoor sports without bringing snacks for when tennis turns into gossip hour. Some of my most recent favs are the Sizzlin’ Combos at Circle K! (Can’t forget that Flavored Frozen Fun!) They have all kinds of tasty combos, but right now there is a Mango Fire Froster® & Flamin’ Hot Chipotle Ranch Cheetos® combo . I mean, I don’t know about y’all but when I get the munchies I’m all about the sweet and savory combo! Circle K is just one of those places that is so convenient too, it makes it easier to pick up snacks there on those hot summer days when you don’t want to leave the house.
Honestly, Circle K is stepping up its game with this Mango Fire Froster®. It is icy cold, and fabulously flavored. The flavor starts off sweet and ends with a little spice. It reminds me of the mangos and chile powder I eat as a healthy snack, but in drink form! It’s a NEW flavor available for a limited time only and is exclusive to Circle K locations.
For a limited time only you can have a Sizzlin’ combo for only $2.50 when you buy a Mango Fire Froster® & Flamin’ Hot Cheetos® is an exclusive and limited time offer only found at Circle K. Get there as soon as you can, it’s only available through August 31st!
Go early in the morning or late at night
These are the coolest times of the day (which in Texas still means its 98%). I personally love playing sports late at night!
All the single ladies
Okay, so they don’t all have to be single by any means but that song pops in my head every time I think of my girls. Invite all of your friends to come out and play games with you. The more the merrier, especially if you’re playing at night. It is safer to play in groups!
The most important rule
There are no rules! At the end of the day, it’s just an active way to get your friends together for a casual night out! Typically, my friends and I will play for an hour, then we’ll sit in a circle and talk about everything under the sun. We’ll sip some wine and much on our snacks ( mine being the #sizzlincombo here lately) and catch up on life!
The most important thing is just to have fun with your friends! We get together once or twice every month and live our best lives! Just have fun, get in a quick workout, then drink and eat it off with some of your besties!
