How You Can Give Back This #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving where everyone is challenged to do something kind for other. It’s always on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. I’ve always appreciated the random acts of kindness I saw tagged on Instagram, and the stories I’d read from friends on Facebook. This year, however, I wanted to get involved on a deeper level. I wanted to help impact the community, and ultimately someone’s life. But how? Turns out, the answer was closer than I thought!

This post is sponsored by McDonalds, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ways to Give Back on #GivingTuesday

Donate to a local charity

In my eyes, donating to a local charity is one of the most productive ways to give back. Donating directly impacts lives, and with there being so many non-profits in North Texas, you can always find an organization that speaks to your heart.

This year, that organization for me is the local Ronald McDonald House Charities, or RMHC, Chapter. Located less than two miles from where I live, and right up the street from Children’s Medical Center, is the home. Not only does the organization provide support and resources to keep families together when children have long hospital stays, they also support families in other ways too! They have places for families to rest right inside hospitals, close to their children. They’ve created these Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, so that children have access to health care when they need it most. Plus, they offer grants to help extend their reach! It is truly amazing.

Eat meals with a purpose

There are so many foodie fundraisers going on around town today with restaurants and organizations working together for the greater good. As part of McDonald’s #McGiveBack campaign, they’re doing Pennies Per Pound throughout all of November. Benefiting families through RMHC, Pennies Per Pound is an ongoing initiative with McDonald’s.

Basically, for every pound of french fries sold, McDonald’s in North Texas donates two cents to RMHC!

How amazing is that? You get to eat, let’s face it, the best fries in the world, and give back while doing it! Plus, if you want to give more, you can donate right inside your local McDonald’s, every penny is super helpful!

RMHC even has a Scholars Scholarship! Since 1988, they’ve awarded 1,55 scholarships to high school seniors totaling $2,354,500! How incredible is that?

I’m quite amazed by how much McDonald’s does to give back to the community. I’ve always known about RMHC, but I didn’t realize how much more it was than a place for families of children to go during long hospital visits (as if that’s not huge enough in itself.) I would love to hear what you all are doing for #GivingTuesday! Let me know in the comments below!
