I’m Walking 60 Miles For Komen 3-Day ®

I have an exciting announcement – I’m walking in the upcoming Susan G. Komen 3-Day®! It’s my first time participating and I’m thrilled to be a part of this inspiring event. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day ® is a 60-mile walk for women and men who are ready to end breast cancer forever. Participants raise a minimum of $2,300 and walk an average of 20 miles a day for three consecutive days.

Fundraising For The Komen 3-Day ®

I know what you’re thinking – $2300 is steep for a walk. But when you think about all that it does, it’s totally worth it! Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Susan G. Komen 3-Day® help support Susan G. Komen®’s global research program, while the remaining 25 percent supports programs providing medical support (patient navigation programs, for example), and local education programs funded by local Affiliates.

Over the next few months I’ll be sharing blog posts to give you an inside look at how I prepare for and experience the walk. But for now, I’d love to share how I plan on raising money for this incredible cause. The thought of raising money may be terrifying for some people. But I’ll go over what I’m going to do to fundraise, and I’ll leave share some different ideas I have for anyone that would like to fundraise for the event!

How I Plan To Raise $2300

When you first look at that number, it sounds intimidating. $2300 is a lot of money! Luckily, I believe I have the resources to pull it off. The biggest thing I’m going to do to raise the money is throw a fitness event. If you follow my blog, you know that throwing fitness events is one of my passions. Between Barre & Bites and Dallas Fitness Ambassadors, I have a good amount of experience in event planning. The great thing is, you don’t have to be a pro to go this route! All you need is a space, a few vendors, and a group of people that support you and your cause! I’ll be sharing more information on when and where the event is later on my Instagram. So, if you’re interested in attending, be sure to follow me there!

Another thing I’m doing is collecting donations right through my blog page. I’ve added a button in my sidebar where people can donate directly from my site! That way, if someone can’t attend my event, but still wants to support the cause, they can give easily! Here’s  what the button looks like. Super easy!

Help me reach my goal for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day

I will also be sharing my fundraising efforts on social media with my friends and loved ones. Outside of word-of-mouth, this is a great way to raise money for the event! We use so many social media networks – might as well use them for good.

What Other Ways Are There To Raise Money

There are a ton of things you could do to raise money for the walk! Here are a few of my personal favorites:

  • Host a dinner
  • Have a bake sale
  • Host a movie night
  • Have a book sale
  • Have a garage sale

I’m SO looking forward to this event, but if I’m being honest I’m a bit nervous about walking 20 miles per day. Luckily, I’ve been training and will continue to train even harder over the next couple of months. I’ll share more on how I’m training shortly, so stay tuned for more 3-Day blog posts!
