During my 3-week long #GingerGoesSouth road trip, I stopped by Margaritaville Bossier City. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing travel tips on each of the places I visited during my trip. For now, I’m sharing the deets on this super affordable resort in Shreveport-Bossier City. This wasn’t the first time I visited Shreveport (I mean, I did live there as a kid) but it was my first time staying at a Margaritaville resort. Y’all know I can be a little picky, so here is my honest review of the hotel.
Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City
The Price
When I go to Shreveport-Bossier City, I always stay at casinos. They’re super cheap and typically have really nice rooms, especially for the price. Plus, if I’m only in town for the night, I don’t really have to leave the hotel for anything. Since I was traveling alone, this was a huge plus for me. Margaritaville Bossier City was extremely affordable, running me about $79 before taxes. I can get behind that!
The Amenities
The hotel has a list of amenities – most of which I didn’t take advantage of on this trip. One thing I did do was head to the casino! I spent (and won back) $5 on slots, then decided I didn’t want to lose any money and left. bahaha
Some of their other amenities include…
- A spa
- A pool
- A fitness center
- A gift shop
- …and room service – which I was not at all impressed with.
Room Service
The room service at Margaritaville Bossier City was atrocious. In my opinion, the menu didn’t have a huge variety of options, but I was able to order something that sounded delicious. It took 3 calls to finally get through to the correct department, but the person that finally answered was really sweet. I ordered my Cajun Pasta and a bottle of wine. Don’t judge me, I was on vacay. About an hour later *insert side eye* someone was knocking on my door with my food. I jumped in the bed and got to eating.
At first glance, the food looked and smelled delicious. I was a little slighted by the fact that my wine bottle was half the size of a regular one (that crap was like $25), but I didn’t let that ruin my meal. What did ruin it was the fact that some of it was cold and the chicken had clearly been sitting out and reheated. Not to mention the “garlic bread” was stale af and also appeared to have been under a heating lamp for a few hours. I ended up eating some of the pasta, downing the wine, and going to bed. I figured the alcohol would kill off any germs that might have touched my pasta from the chicken lol. Plus that sauce was bangin.

The Room
The room was definitely the highlight of my say. My abode was on the 14th floor and had a decent view of the parking lot and parts of Bossier. I loved how spacious the room was and that it had a mini fridge and bar area. To my surprise, there were two water bottles and a bag of Chex Mix waiting for me on the bar. I don’t know too many places that treat you to complimentary snacks. The bathroom was well designed with a standing shower and separate potty room. The bed was super comfy and everything was super clean so I have no complaints there. Oh, and there was free wifi which is always a plus!
The Verdict
The room and amenities (that I tried) were on point, but I was pretty disgusted by the chicken and half bottle of wine. That being said, the resort is located on the boardwalk where there are about a dozen or so food options and shopping within walking distance. Plus, it’s right on the river which can be nice for a stroll (if you aren’t traveling alone.) I would definitely stay at Margaritaville Bossier City again, and I would definitely avoid eating there.
