Last week, I had the pleasure of trying the new Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop at Mimi’s Cafe in Fort Worth. It was created by the winner of the Mimi’s Recipe Contest, Ellise Pierce of CowgirlChef.com. In a nutshell, it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. But before I get to the chops, let me highlight a few of the other things I tried on my trip out west.
Appetizer
For my appetizer, I ordered the Warm Spinach Artichoke Dip. You know how sometimes when you order spinach dip its watered down and not cheesy enough? Well this did NOT fit in that category. It was thick – but not too think – and had the perfect amount of cheese. Bonus: I didn’t even have to add salt to it, which is something else I find is necessary with some spinach dips. But no, the dip was nearly perfect. My only minor complaint would be that the chips were a bit thicker than I like for mine to be. But that didn’t stop me from scarfing them down!
Oh, and bread of course. The pumpkin breads were my fav!
Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop
Without any hesitation I can easily say that this was the best grilled pork chop I’ve had all year! Whoever thought to add lavender was either crazy or genius, but it totally works! The flavor is not too overbearing, and although it has honey, its not overly sweet. They use the perfect blend of herbs de Provence and top it with a lavender glaze. I seriously couldn’t get enough. Its served with a side salad that is TO DIE FOR! I’m definitely planning on recreating it so I can have it on the regular!
I didn’t try any of the desserts but I did get a picture of them so you can decide which one looks the tastiest! They all look pretty dang good to me.
…that birthday cake though….
