Its no big secret that I love food. I’m willing to bet that you do too. But it always seems like when I’m really hungry, I can never figure out where I want to eat or what I want to munch on! This also reigns true when I’m on vacation, like my recent trip I took to LA. Luckily, I was with a few friends that had been to LA before and had some great places to recommend.
While I practically ate my weight in food, I didn’t get to try EVERYTHING in LA. My friend Mai Lyn from Deep Fried Fit wrote about her foodie adventures on our trip too. You can check them out by clicking here! Now, for some delicious food porn pics to hold you over until your next meal. Check out what restaurants I ate at and what I ordered!
Woodspoon
This Brazilian restaurant is adorable. The decor in Woodspoon very quaint and modern. The people that work there were friendly and made you feel right at home. I ordered the Brazilian Grill, Brazilian sausage to be exact. The beans and rice were bomb. The sausage was super tasty too, especially with the plantains. The waiter suggested that the spices (the yellowish brown colored thing) was really good on the food too but I really didn’t taste anything from it. Still, I sprinkled it on everything – because when in Rome!
Pump
A few of us on the trip are obsessed with reality tv. So of course we had to try out one of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants. Sur had NO openings (no surprise there) so on to Pump we went. The food was really good and the restaurant itself was GORGEOUS! I had a caesar salad with anchovies. They grossed me out at first but when I cut them up they were actually pretty good in the salad. They basically just tasted like salt. I also had the Penne with Tiger Prawns. Uhm…delicious. It was SO stinking good. The sauce was similar to a light alfredo. I loved it! Also pictured is the tuna salad and the Truffle Mushroom Chicken that my friends ordered! They both looked really good! My only complaint with Pump is that the service kinda stunk. However, there was a Jesse James look alike working there that may have kept my mind off of that!
Eggslut
This place was LEGIT! Eggslut is located in Grand Ccntral Market. Its super casual but the food is really good. I ordered the Fairfax with a side of bacon on salad (instead of the brioche bun). I would say its the healthiest thing I ordered that week except I also ordered a biscuit (which happened to be the best biscuit I’ve had in my entire life). Of course it was served with maple syrup.
Tavern on 2
Okay, so technically this one isn’t in LA, but its a quick 45 minute drive to Long Beach and its well worth the drive! We tried quite a few appetizers, entrees, and desserts! Each of which was deeeelish. For apps, we got the mac n cheese, crispy brussel sprouts, roasted cauliflower, and short rib poutine!
For entrees, we had the duck tacos, chicken tacos, kung pao pork belly tacos and the tavern burger!
Lastly we ordered some Smores and bread pudding!
Kitchen24
Kitchen24 is like a diner with really good food! The milkshakes looked great and everyone seemed to love them. I had the Big Baller which was like a meatball sandwich on crack! The cheese and fresh basil really up’d the anti on this one. I also got onion rings that were YUM!
Whew! Well as you see I grubbed a LOT on this trip! The food was soo good that it was hard for me to find anything that I didn’t like. So, the answer to why I love eating out in LA is because the food is simply on another level. Even when I ordered things I was familiar with, like meatball subs and brussels sprouts, they were made with an element that I hadn’t tried previously. And for a foodie like me, that makes all the difference! I can’t wait to go back and try all new places and dishes. Maybe next time we’ll be able to get into Sur!
My food at Tavern on 2 was comped in exchange for a review however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
